Perfume Genius : Fool : Too Bright (2014)
-       3rd full length
-       Best song of 2014 so far.
-       This track burst out away from the delicate, piano-only tracks that filled most of his first 2 LPs.
-       Project led by Mike Hadreas.



OnlyReal : Cadillac Girl : Cadillac Girl 7" (2014)
-       2nd single from forthcoming debut full length. Due out in 2015.
-       One of only several songs they've released.
-       Vocalist over a blend of super catchy classic indie rock and electronic music.
-       23 yr old Niall Galvin bedroom project.

Spoon : The Rent I Pay : They Want My Soul (2014)
-          8th album.
-          First album since the band found success teaming up with Dan Boeckner in the Divine Fits.
-          One of the most prominent and critically acclaimed indie bands of the past 20 years.

-       3rd full length.
-       Their 2nd, We Are The 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace and Magic, was my 2nd favorite of 2014.
-       Funkier Rolling Stones feel.



King Tuff : Biggest Hearts : The Pitchfork Review 7” Single Series Vol. 3 (2014)
-       Special vinyl release accompanying the 2nd issue of The Pitchfork Review.
-       3rd full length album, Black Moon Spell, was just announced.
-       out of the Vermont
-       psychadelic/powerpop/rock… a little like T Rex vocals
-       His self-titled 2nd album was one of 2012's best albums.

The U & U Show 368 | New Bon Iver & Titus Andronicus



Blithe Field : Perry St. 2 : Warm Blood (2012)
-          6th-ish album. Includes a few collections. There are also numerous singles.
-          One of the most beautiful, creative, indie folk albums.
-          RIYL Mutual Benefit or Mimicking Birds.



Bon Iver : Heavenly Father : Wish I Was Here OST (2014)
-          Contribution to the soundtrack to the latest Zack Braff film.
-          First Bon Iver music in a long time.
-          Leader Justin Vernon has been working on his other projects, Volcano Choir and The Shouting Matches, since.
-          Sounds a bit more like Volcano Choir than Bon Iver, but still the Justin Vernon stamp.

Mikal Cronin : Piano Mantra : MCII (2013)
-          S/t solo debut out in 2011.
-          Album is produced by fellow west coaster, Ty Segall.
-          Also in a surf-punk band called the Moonhearts & Ty Segall's backing band, just like Ty's in Mikal's band.



Sunset Rubdown : Us Ones In Between : Shut Up I Am Dreaming… (2006)
-          2nd, of 4, albums.
-          Their 4th, 2009's Dragonslayer, was easily one of the best that year.
-          One of Spencer Krug’s many bands.
-          His Latest project, Moonface, had my favorite album of 2012. Heartbreaking Bravery.
-          New solo piano Moonface album in the fall of 2013.

Sonny Smith as Danny Dusk & The Twilights : Life Ain't Clear : Sonny Smith's 100 Records Vol 3 (2013)
-          3rd installment from one of the more ambitious projects I've come across.
-          He's come up with 100 fictional bands and recording a song as each of them. Full explanation here.
-          Also the leader of Sonny & the Sunsets who had an excellent album, Longtime Companion, out in 2012.

-          Debut full length. Latest release is 2012's Cool Nightmare EP

Gap Dream : Feast of the First Morning : Gap Dream (2012)
-          Debut full length.
-          2nd is on it's way.
-          Druggy psych rock that's slightly less ominous than the Black Angels.

Islet : What We Done Wrong : Illuminated People (2012)
-          Debut full length.
-          A bunch of other releases available on BandCamp.

Indians : I Am Haunted : Somewhere Else (2013)
-          Debut album.

Nick Cave : Higgs Boson Blues : Push Away The Sky (2013)
-          15th studio album
-          Most recent was 2008’s ‘Dig, Lazarus! Dig!!!’ and then his two Grinderman albums.
-          Like a few artists out there, like Lou Reed and Tom Waits, he has a huge cult following and a unique/distinct sound.

Fidlar : Got No Money : Don't Try EP (2012)
-          2nd EP. One EP out in 2011.
-          Rough garage rick with a bit of surf rock.
-          So glad to see these guys getting a bit of publicity.
-          FIDLAR = Fuck It Dog Life’s A Risk.
-          SXSW 2012



Yellow Ostrich : Marathon Runner : Strange Land (2012)
-          2nd full length.
-          Debut full length was 'The Mistress' and made the 2011 Best of the U & U.
-          Sounds a bit like the Beatles and the White Stripes and even at times Menomena.



Dusted : (Into the) Atmosphere : Total Dust (2012)
-          Debut full length
-          Collaborative band from a member of Holy Fuck and Final Fantasy.
-          Big Neil Young folk sound.



Diamond Rugs : Country Mile : Diamond Rugs (2012)
-          Debut release from garage/folk supergroup featuring Deer Tick's John McCaualey, Ian Saint Pe of the Black Lips and Hardy Morris from Dead Confederate.
-          Their name is a play on the phase ‘I’m on drugs.’



Cloud Nothings : No Future/No Past : Attack on Memory (2012)
-          2nd album.
-          Band led by 20 year old from Cleveland.
-          Brooding, building track that starts like a Pixies song then explodes into something like that found on a raucous Nirvana track, or some other early 90's grunge act.



The Tallest Man On Earth : 1904 : There's No Leaving Now (2012)
-          3rd album.
-          Swedish singer/songwriter Kristian Matsson
-          Powerful voice.
-          2008 self-titled debut was very well received.



Sun Kil Moon : The Moderately Talented Yet Attractive Young Woman Vs. The Exceptionally Talented Yet Not So Attractive Middle Aged Man : Among the Leaves (2012)
-          5th full length
-          Mark Kozelek's main band.
-          First album was comprised of all AC/DC reworkings. 2nd was all Modest Mouse. Both are great.



First Aid Kit : The Lion's Roar : The Lion's Roar (2012)
-          2nd full length.
-          Swedish folk outfit.
-          They also have one EP out and a DayTrotter session well worth your time.



Slam Donahue : C'mon C'mon : Hemlock Tea EP (2012)
-          2nd EP
-          One of the catchier songs I've come across in quite a while



Langhorne Slim & the Law : Fire : The Way We Move (2012)
-          First album with backing band The Law.
-          Great first single that you can get for free on his site.
-          Passionate and exciting live performer.



Maps & Atlases : Old Ash : Beware and Be Grateful (2012)
-          Latest full length.
-          Chicago experimental folk outfit.
-          Played SXSW 2011 and playing 2012



Twin Shadow : Beg For The Night : Confess (2012)
-          2nd album
-          There might not be a song I've listened to more since my move than this one
-          Band led by George Lewis Jr.
-          Part pop, part 80's synth rock, part dance and all wrapped up in Lewis' dynamic vocals.
