The Unknown & Unheard Show 227! The One & Only!

Black Lips – Modern Art – Arabia Mountain (2011)
-          2nd track out off their forthcoming 6th album.
-          One of the most fun bands to listen to and see live.
-          Sloppy garage rock.

Yeasayer - Phoenix Wind - End Blood (2011)
-          Record Store Day Release single of b-sides from the recording sessions for their 2nd album, Odd Blood.
-          Best Band of Pitchfork Music Fest 2009 By Far!
-          Immensely layered quintet

Geographer - Paris - Animal Shapes EP (2010)
-          latest release
-          There aren't many out there but this is another band that puts off a sound very reminiscent of Yeasayer and Bravestation.
-          Played SXSW. One of the surprise highlights!

tUnE-yArDs - Gangsta - w h o k i l l (2011)
-          2nd album.
-          Debut full length, ‘BiRd-BrAiNs’ was a huge critical success.
-          Eclectic, spastic indie pop sound.
-          Merrill Garbus is the main brains behind this act.
-          This is the best song I’ve heard from her so far.

Ty Segall - The Slider - Ty Rex (2011)
-          T. Rex themed EP of covers for Record Store Day. This release has completely sold me on Ty.
-          Huge critical hit.
-          Big garage rock here. Think old Black Keys.
-          Played one of the loudest, most rockin' sets at SXSW

T. Rex - Baby Boomerang - The Slider (1972)
-          The follow-up to one of the greatest albums ever made (Electric Warrior).
-          This is a track I had not heard from T. Rex up until I was reading about this Ty Segall project.

King Khan and the BBQ Show – Crystal Ball– Invisible Girl (2009)
-          3rd album
-          They are both in the Almighty Defenders with the Black Lips
-          They just had a falling out in late 2010 and may not make any more music together.
-          The end of this track picks up so much and it's almost impossible to sing along!

Fidlar - Max Can't Surf - DIYDUI EP (2011)
-          1st single from their forthcoming debut.
-          Rough garage rick with a bit of surf rock.

LAKE
- Within/Without - Giving and Receiving (2011)

-          Big pop with male/female vocals.
-          Very cool video for this track can be found here.

O'Death - Bugs - Outside (2011)
-          4th album of 4.
-          Folk and bluegrass outfit from Brooklyn.

Typhoon - CPR / Claws Pt. 2 - Hunger and Thirst (2010)
-          Full length that got lots of praise.
-          Portland, OR band.
-          Played SXSW

Ezra Furman and The Harpoons - Wild Rosemarie - Mysterious Power (2011)
-          3rd album
-          One of the most talented and refreshing artists going.
-          Played SXSW

Twilight Singers – Last Night In Town – Dynamite Steps (2011)
-          3rd full length
-          Led by Greg Dulli.
-          Dulli has also collaborated with Mark Lanegan to release a couple albums as the Gutter Twins.
-          The build through out this song is worth the price of the album.
-          Whether it’s here or in the Gutter Twins, Dulli is capable of creating deep powerful moods and feelings.

Zola Jesus - Sea Talk - Valusia EP (2010)
-          2nd EP of 2. Also has released 2 full lengths.
-          Playing P4K Fest 2011!
-          Dark, drones, synths and an understated ominous feel.
-          Almost has a feel of a serious sci-fi/action movie score.

The Dismemberment Plan - What Do You Want Me To Say - Emergency and I (1999)
-          3rd album and considered one of the best albums from the genre of all time.
-          Recently rejoined, classic indie rock band.
-          Playing P4K Fest 2011!

Gardens - Maze Time - Gardens (2011)
-          1st single from their forthcoming debut.
-          Detroit garage rockers that sound a lot like the Black Lips. I wish more bands did!
