The U & U Show 404 | New Justin Vernon & 5 Show Debuts

Justin Vernon : Time Goes Inside Out… (2015)
-          Cover of Spoon's song 'Inside Out'
-          Promo single and video for the Eau Claire Music Festival.

Sufjan Stevens : John My Beloved : Carrie and Lowell (2015)
-          I believe it's officially his forthcoming 6th album, but he's also but out numerous other compilations and releases from side projects.
-          One of the most talented musicians that I've been able to enjoy every step of the way.
-          This first teaser sounds like a hope-elevating return to his early stripped back folk days.

Damaged Bug : Jet In Jungle : Cold Hot Plumbs (2015)
-          2nd LP
-          Solo moniker for Thee Oh Sees frontman John Dwyer.
-          Debut album, Hubba Bubba, was out in 2014.
-          Less amped up and aggressive, synth-heavy psych rock weirdness.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra : Can't Keep Checking My Phone : Multi-Love (2015)
-          Forthcoming 3rd LP.
-          Debut album, 2011's s/t, was a huge critical hit.

Mr. Elevator & the Brain Hotel : Right Where You Ought To Be : Nico & Her Psychedelic Subconscious (2013)
-          Debut Album.
-          Led by Tomas Dolas, but features Wyatt Blair.
-          Burger Records

-          Latest Single. 2nd album, Not Real, is just out as well.
-          Liverpool psych folk band.

Waxahatchee : Summer Of Love : Ivy Tripp (2015)
-          3rd full length.
-          Project from Kate Crutchfield. Twin sister of Swearin's Allison Crutchfield.
-          Her 2nd album, 2013's Cerulean Salt, was one of the year's best.
-          Debut was lo-fi and a rougher DIY style album.
-          Played a series of stripped back solo shows with only her twin sister, Allison of Swearin', on backup vocals at SXSW 2015.

John Andrews & The Yawns : Pennsylvania : Bit By The Fang (2015)
-          Debut LP.
-          Dylan-esque big band, steady-rolling, Americana-tinged, jangly classic rock.
-          Andrews is also Quilt's drummer and Woods' keyboardist.

Warm Soda : Cryin For A Love : Symbolic Dream (2015)
-          3rd Album.
-          Led by Matthew Melton who released his solo debut in 2014 and led Bare Wires previously.
-          Another highlight of the Burger Records SXSW 2015 showcase.

Hagerty-Toth Band : 2D Girl : Qalgebra (2015)
-          Record Store Day 2015 release.
-          Collab of James Jackson Toth (Wooden Wand) Neil Hagerty (Royal Trux).
-          James Toth has been one of my favorite folk artists of the past 10 yrs.

Howlin' Rain : Death Prayer in Heaven's Orchard : Howlin' Rain (2006)
-          Debut LP
-          Just put out their 4th album, Mansion Songs.
-          Led by Ethan Miller, formerly of Comets On Fire.
-          Big blues psych rock that gets a bit jammier than I tend to go for, but the vocals are pretty powerful and unique to Ethan Miller

Wand : Melted Rope : Golem (2015)
-          2nd album.
-          LA-based loud, psych-heavy rock.
-          Buddies with Ty Segall.

Les Big Byrd : Tinnitus Ætérnum : Back To Bagarmossen (2014)

-          Stockholm psych rock.
-          Work with Anton Newcombe of Brian Jamestown Massacre.

Suuns & Jerusalem In My Heart : Metal : Suuns & Jerusalem In My Heart (2015)
-          Collaborative LP.
-          Suuns have two albums out and were one of my top bands at Sx 2015
-          Both groups are from Montreal, which has a booming and eclectic music scene.

Girl Band : Lawman : The Early Years EP (2015)
-          Forthcoming EP.
-          Explosive cover of UK Electronic act Blawan.

The U & U Show 390 | New Sufjan!

Sufjan Stevens : Carrie and Lowell : Carrie and Lowell (2015)
-          I believe it's officially his forthcoming 6th album, but he's also but out numerous other compilations and releases from side projects.
-          One of the most talented musicians that I've been able to enjoy every step of the way.
-          This first teaser sounds like a hope-elevating return to his early stripped back folk days.

Iron and Wine : Everyone's Summer of '95 : Archive Series Volume No. 1 (2015)
-          First in a series of albums comprised of unreleased music.
-          This song is a great reminder of the incredible rough, raw folk Sam Beam did early on.

The U & U Show 389 | Early Promise

Panda Bear : Boys Latin : Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper (2015)
-          5th album.
-          Member of Animal Collective, one of the most highly acclaimed Indie bands.
-          Hypnotizing experimental, electronic psych pop.
-          Getting an obscene load of hype, but is sounding like it will be phenomenal.

Pond : Sitting Up On Our Crane : Man, It Feels Like Space Again (2015)
-          Forthcoming 6th album
-          Australian group that features members of Tame Impala’s touring band.
-          Led by Nicholas Allbrook, also of Allbrook/Avery, who released his solo debut in 2014.
-          One of the most entertaining lead singers.
-          Latest music and live shows have made me think of 70’s Pink Floyd.
-          This collective of Perth musicians is making some of the greatest psych rock currently.
