The U & U Show 325! Two of the 13's Best Songs

Ellery James Roberts : Kerou's Lament (single) (2013)
-          Solo debut single from the former lead sing of the now defunct Wu Lyf.
-          Wu Lyf's lone album, Go Tell Fire to the Mountain, was one of 2011's best albums.
-          This is might be my favorite song of the year so far.

Volcano Choir : Byegone : Repave (2013)
-          debut album was 2009's Unmap.
-          Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver) project with Collections of Colonies of Bees.
-          Bon Iver’s owned the 2008 music world

PHOX : Slow Motion : Confetti EP (2013)
-          Latest release.
-          A smoky, soulful female led indie pop/folk with a bit of orchestral instrumentation.

Joseph Childress : Whispering Tide : The Rebirths (2013)
-          Debut solo album.
-          Folk song writer along the lines of Tallest Man on Earth.

Mozes and the Firstborn : I Got Skills : Mozes and the Firstborn (2013)
-          Debut full length.
-          Psych rock from Holland.

Shannon And The Clams : Sleep Talk : Sleep Talk (2011)
-          Debut album of 2.
-          Great fuzzy, doo-wop, 3 piece garage band.
-          Very effectively warmed the waters for Mikal Cronin.

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats : Trying So Hard Not To Know (2013)
                - Debut single with this more soul and rock infused band.
                - His previous work was much more mellow folk.

Crocodiles : Cockroach : Crimes of Passion (2013)
-          4th album
-          Lo-fi, post-punk, psych… a big mash up of styles.

Pixies : BAGBOY (single) (2013)
-          First new song in 9 years.
-          Led by Frank Black/Black Francis.
-          He played Radio Radio and blew the sold out crowd away.
-          About as important of a band as you'll find in music history.

KRILL : Purity of Heart : Lucky Leaves (2013)
-          2nd full length
-          Debut album, Alam No Hris, was out in 2011
-          Led by Ezra Furman's brother Jonah.

Fucked Up : The Other Shoe : David Comes To Life (2011)
-          Hugely critically acclaimed 3rd album.
-          Musically like Titus Andronicus or The Hold Steady with a metal band frontman.

Marnie Stern : You Don't Turn Down : The Chronicles of Marnia (2013)
-          4th album. Out in March 2013
-          Her previous album was a 2010 Best of the U & U.
-          A wild mix of the joyous unpredictability of Ponytail and the harder Yeah Yeah Yeahs tracks.
-          The band I'm most excited to see play SXSW 2013 of the announced acts so far.

Lightning Dust : Fire Me Up : Fantasy (2013)
-          3rd album
-          This is the best song they've recorded.
-          Jagjaguwar Label.
-          Haunting synthy folk.

Wise Blood : Alarm : id (2013)
-          Debut full length.
-          Debut EP, These Wings, was out in 2011.
-          Impressive blend of r&b/rap/singing vocals, drums, and samples.

The Builders and the Butchers : No Roses : Western Medicine (2013)
-          5th album
-          Tense energy can be felt through out their music.
-          Great live band!

Dead Confederate : In the Marrow : In the Marrow (2013)
-          3rd full length. 3 EPs as well.
-          Heavy alt-country band from Georgia led by T Hardy Morris
-          He teamed up with The Black Lips' Ian St. Pe and Deer Ticks John McCauley in Diamond Rugs.

Surf City : It's a Common Life : We Knew It Was Not Going To Be Like This (2013)
-          3rd album
-          New Zealand band.
-          Fuzzy, psychedelic guitar pop.
