U & U Show 406 | Titus Returns and Has Me Excited

Mikal Cronin : Turn Around : MCIII (2015)
-          3rd album.
-          One of the best songwriters going writing vintage beachy psych rock/pop.
-          Also in a surf-punk band called the Moonhearts & Ty Segall's backing band, just like Ty's in Mikal's band.

The Tallest Man On Earth : Darkness of the Dream : Dark Bird Is Home (2015)
-          4th album.
-          Swedish singer/songwriter Kristian Matsson
-          Powerful voice and bringing in the fullness of a War On Drugs LP.
-          2008 self-titled debut was very well received.

Titus Andronicus : Dimed Out : The Most Lamentable Tragedy (2015)
-          Forthcoming triple LP. It will be their 4th.
-          Their 2nd, The Monitor, is one of my all-time favorite albums.
-          Post-punk rock anthems led by Patrick Stickles.

Palma Violets : Hollywood (I Got It) : Danger In The Club (2015)
-          2nd album
-          Their 2013 debut was one of the years most highly regarded albums.

-          Highest energy band at SXSW 2015.

Thee Oh Sees : Withered Hand : Mutilator Defeated At Last (2015)
-          Forthcoming LP.
-          Prolific San Fran garage psych from John Dwyer.
-          Their last 2 LPs, Floating Coffin and Drop, were two of the best of the past 2 years.
-          One of the best SXSW 2015 bands.

Tame Impala : Disciples : Currents (2015)
-          Much-hyped forthcoming 3rd LP.
-          By far the most dance-y track to date. Sounds more like Daft Punk than their previous music.
-          Innerspeaker & Lonerism have been two of the best Beatles-leaning vintage psych rock albums of the past few years.
-          One of the leading forces of the Perth, AUS psych rock scene.

Future Islands : The Chase : The Chase 7" (2015)
-          Latest release.
-          Baltimore band that exploded in 2014.
-          Their 4th album, Singles, was my top album of 2014.

Son Lux : Change Is Everything : Bones (2015)
-          4th full length.
-          Project led by Ryan Lott. Collaborator with Sufjan Stevens and Arcade Fire.
-          3rd album, Lanterns really catapulted his acclaim.
-          Must see video for this song.

Leon Bridges : River : Coming Home (2015)
-          Finally announced debut LP
-          silky smooth vintage soul singer sound.
-          Very promising vintage soul and blues singer just getting started.
-          Signed to Columbia Records with only 2 songs out. Explains his extreme publicity.
-          One of the best bands at SXSW 2015.

Stealing Sheep : Noah's Days : Noah & The Paper Moon EP (2011)
-          One of their first releases.
-          2nd album, Not Real, is just out as well.
-          Liverpool haunting psych folk band.

Mutual Benefit : Darkness of the Dream : Weathervane: Shaking Through EP (2015)
-          Possibly a song from a yet unannounced forthcoming release.
-          This is from a series of EPs documenting the recording process for bands.
-          Beautiful mellow electronic indie folk band with one LP out.
-          Best of SXSW 2014

Sufjan Stevens : Fourth Of July : Carrie and Lowell (2015)
-          I believe it's officially his forthcoming 6th album, but he's also but out numerous other compilations and releases from side projects.
-          One of the most talented musicians that I've been able to enjoy every step of the way.
-          This first teaser sounds like a hope-elevating return to his early stripped back folk days.

Saint Pé : Street Lights : Secular Music EP (2015)
-          Debut solo EP.
-          Formerly one of the main three leaders of the Black Lips.
-          Also just released a 2nd LP with Deer Tick's John McCauley as the Diamond Rugs.

Ryan Adams : It's In My Head : No Shadow (2015)
-          One of his recent string of one-off singles.
-          Just released Live at Carnegie Hall.
-          Career-spanning live compilation from a 2-night performance at the NYC theatre.
-          One of my favorite all-time artists who has faded a bit recently.
-          Responsible for some of the best alt-country and folk music of the past 15 years.
