U & U Show 364 | 7 Years of Shows!

Death Cab For Cutie : The New Year : Transatlanticism (2003)
-       5th album
-       Indie band that turned the corner in a major way into the mainstream since I’ve been doing the show.

The Hold Steady : Stevie Nix : Separation Sunday (2005)
-          2nd album
-          Just released their 6th album, Teeth Dreams.
-          One of the greatest live bands I’ve ever seen.
-          Couldn’t think of a better song for a milestone show.

Jack White : Alone In My Home : Lazaretto (2014)
-       2nd solo album out June 9
-       Bringing more of the older, more aggressive style White Stripes' fans were used to.
-       Hi solo debut, 2012's Blunberbuss was a much slower, folkier album.

Frank Turner : Peggy Sang the Blues : England Keep My Bones (2011)
-       4th solo LP, of 5.
-       Former English punk rock band leader that turned to bright folk rock.

Josh Ritter : Harrisburg : Golden Age of Radio (2000)
-       2nd album or 7.
-       He’s been a mainstay of the show from their very first edition.
-       One of the best current folk and folk rock artists.

J Mascis : Every Morning : Tied to a Star (2014)
-          First single from forthcoming solo album
-          Latest solo album was 2011's brilliant Several Shades of Why.
-          Dinosaur Jr. leader, but I think I like him better in this role.

Dune Rats : ET : Dune Rats (2014)
-       Debut full length
-       3 EPs out as well.
-       Sloppy garage, REM-leaning act starting to carve out a name for themselves in a similar way as FIDLAR.
-       Tied for best act of CMJ 2012 with the Grizzled Mighty

Bob Mould : Fix It : Beauty & Ruin (2014)
-          11th solo album
-          Former leader of Husker Du.
-          SXSW 2014

The Orwells : Bathroom Tile Blues : Disgraceland (2014)
-          Opening track on 2nd album.
-          Raw, raucous, garage rock with one of the most over the top lead singers.
-          SXSW 2014

Gum : Growin Up : Delorean Highway (2014)
-       Debut album
-       Another Tame Impala/Pond offshoot.
-       Led by Jay Watson here.
-       Download another single from the album via their SouncCloud.

Wooden Wand : When the Trail Goes Cold : Farmer’s Corner (2014)
-       James Jackson Toth project's forthcoming album.
-       His last album, Blood Oaths of the New Blues, was a Best of the U & U 2013.
-       His track ‘No Bed For Beatle Wand/Days This Long’ was my favorite song of 2013.

Nathaniel Rateliff : I Am : Falling Faster Than You Can Run (2013)
-       3rd full length.
-       I got so hung up on Nathaniel’s other project, The Night Sweats, when this album was released I completely missed one of the best folk albums of 2013.
-       Surprise highlight of my recent SF trip.

First Aid Kit : Shattered & Hollow : Stay Gold (2014)
-       3rd album.
-       Swedish sister folk duo.

Lee Fields & the Expressions : Magnolia : Emma Jean (2014)
-       4th album with the Expressions
-       Features Richard Swift on backup vocals
-       Long-time soul singer

Death Grips : Say Hey Kids : the powers that b (2014)
-          From the first half of their forthcoming double LP.
-          This album features Bjork.
-          Never announce their albums, they just release them for free download.
-          Former drummer of Marnie Stern.
-          Highly experimental blend of hip hop, heavy rock and weirdness.
