The U & U 327 | Way Way Yes

J Roddy Walston & the Business : Heavy Bells : Essential Tremors (2013)
-          6th album
-          2010 s/t album was excellent.
-          Baltimore band
-          Rock and roll feel to some of the tracks
-          Makes me think of Dr. Dog here.

Black Joe Lewis : Come To My Party : Electric Slave (2013)
-          3rd full length.
-          Download this track for free on their Official Site.

Lantern : Evil Eye : Rock 'N' Roll Rorschach (2013)
-          Debut full length, but they already have numerous singles and EPs out already.
-          Garage blues act out of Philly.
-          Remind me a bit of Thee Oh Sees on this track.

Field Medic : Crushed Pennies : Crushed Pennies EP (2013)
-          Debut EP
-          Side project from Kevin Sullivan of Rin Tin Tiger.
-          Much more traditional folk offerings here than Rin Tin Tiger’s indie pop/folk

PHOX : Kingfisher : Friendship (2012)
-          Debut full length.
-          Latest release was 2013’s Confetti EP.
-          A smoky, soulful female led indie pop/folk with a bit of orchestral instrumentation.

The Builders and the Butchers : Hellfire Mountain : Western Medicine (2013)
-          5th album
-          Tense energy can be felt through out their music.
-          Great live band!

Way Yes : Ties : Walkability (2012)
-          Debut EP. Debut full length, Tog Pebbles, is one of 2013's best.
-          Walkability also featured the hypnotically amazing track 'Important.'
-          If you like this band look up the Listening Party. Also reminiscent of mellower Yeasayer and Yellow Ostrich.

Lightning Dust : Mirror : Fantasy (2013)
-          3rd album
-          This is the best song they've recorded.
-          Jagjaguwar Label.
-          Haunting synthy folk.

Sigur Ros : Bláþráður : Kveikur (2013)
-          7th full length. Also an excellent documentary and a live album.
-          Unique, powerful, orchestral Icelandic band.
-          Lyrics are usually big for me to get into a band, but here, the fact I can’t understand them gives their music a mystique.

Warm Soda : Tell Me In A Whisper : Tell Me In A Whisper (single) (2013)
-          Latest single.
-          2nd full length was out earlier in 2013.
-          Project started by Matthew Melton formerly of Bare Wires
-          Very similar vibe to Bare Wires
-          Slogan on BandCamp: 'JUST SAY NO to SXSW 2013' referencing Bare Wires' break up.

Dinosaur Jr. : The Only Other Way (single) (2013)
-          This is a promotional single released with a pair of headphones they designed for Skull Candy.
-          In spite of this marketing gimmick, this is still the exact style of Dino Jr that I love most.
-          Very influential indie rock band.
-          Leader J Mascis released one of the best albums of 2011, Several Shades of Why.
-          Eddie Vedder-esque vocals, even though Eddie probably stole the style from J Mascis.

Heart-Ships : Air Balloon : EP1 (2013)
-          Debut EP
-          Reminiscent of Modest Mouse and Frog Eyes.

Zoo Kid : Out Getting Ribs : Out Getting Ribs/Has This Hit (7” single) (2010)
-          Aka Archy Marshal… Now goes by King Krule
-          His full length debut as King Krule, Six Feet Beneath the Moon is out in Sept.
-          One King Krule EP out too.
-          18 year old British singer/songwriter.
-          Unique vocals highlight the musically restrained tracks.

David Lynch : Star Dream Girl : The Big Dream (2013)
-          2nd full length album.
-          This album has really surprised me… and really made me want to watch Twin Peaks and/or Blue Velvet.
-          One of the weirdest, most intriguing artists in film is not wasting your time in music here.
