The Unknown & Unheard Show 148!!!

Stream & Download The U & U Show 148 Right Here, Right Now! (MediaFire) Frightened Rabbit – Swim Until You Can't See the Land – untitled-as-of-yet (2010) - This band had a lot of hype from the start, and that combined with a ‘far from album best’ first single pushed me away at first, but the deeper I dug into this album the more I was blown away - This is the best track on the album and its unedited form isn’t the most radio friendly song. - Scottish accent stands out, but there seems to be something more than that to his vocals and make them truly unique. Official Site : Myspace : Buy on Amazon : Stream on HypeMachine Karen O and the Kids – Capsize – Where the Wild Things Are OST (2009) - Karen O composed soundtrack - The Kids include a couple other Yeah Yeah Yeahs, a couple Racounteurs and Bradford Cox of Atlas Sound and Deerhoof Myspace : Buy on Amazon : Stream on HypeMachine Jamie T – British Intelligence – King’s & Queens (2009) - 2nd album - British singer/songwriter - At times he leans into rap, but I think he’s at his best when he goes for a catchy rock/punk sound. Official Site : MySpace : Buy on Amazon : Stream on HypeMachine Joseph Childress - Leaving the Barren Ground - Split (Tower) 7" (2009) - split effort with White White Quilt - recorded inside an empty water tower. - band members added to the percussion by throwing their bodies into the sides of the water tower. MySpace : Buy on Amazon : Stream on HypeMachine Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson – Summer of Fear, Pt 2 – Summer of Fear (2009) - 2nd album - TV on the Radio’s Kyp Malone and Grizzly Bear’s Christopher Bear continue to lend a hand to his work - His self-titled debut is well worth your time and reason enough to give this album a listen as well. MySpace : Buy on Amazon : Stream on HypeMachine : Download on RCRDLBL Ben Gibbard & Jay Farrar – One Fast Move Or I’m Gone – One Fast Move or I’m Gone: Kerouac’s Big Sur (2009) - Son Volt's leader + Death Cab For Cutie’s team up for a few songs to accompany a Jack Kerouac Documentary Read Up on Pitchfork : Buy on Amazon : Stream on HypeMachine Molina and Johnson – Twenty Cycles To The Ground – Molina and Johnson (2009) - Magnolia Electric Co's leader + Centro-matic's. - Two of the best folk/alt-country singer/songwriters team up. Official Site : Buy on Amazon : Stream on HypeMachine Lou Reed - Vicious – Transformer(1970) - 2nd solo album - Produced by Bowie - Considered his best album - This track is one rumored to have been written when he was with the Velvet Underground. Official Site : MySpace : Buy on Amazon : Stream on HypeMachine The Raveonettes – Bang! - In And Out Of Control (2009) - 4th album from this Danish rock duo - Sound is heavy with feels of the Velvet Underground. - Also some Black Mountain and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club missed in there too. - this one is blatantly laden with Lou Reed/VU sounds. Official Site : Myspace : Buy on Amazon : Stream on HypeMachine October Country - My Girlfriend is a Witch - Where The Action Is: Los Angeles Nuggets 1965-1968 (2009) - late 60's psych rock/pop band - the fuzzy eerie guitar throughout really stands out. Buy on Amazon Langhorne Slim – Leaving My Love – Be Set Free (2009) - 3rd album… out September 29th - His self-titled second blew me away. - the best folk singer/songwriter out there for my money. Myspace : Buy on Amazon : Stream on HypeMachine Heartless Bastards – Early In The Morning – The Mountain (2009) - 3rd full length - Powered by the big voice of lead singer Erika Wennerstrom and some big rock riffs - Out of Dayton - 3rd album out in January Official Site : MySpace : Buy on Amazon : Stream on HypeMachine Lucero –Sound of the City - 1372 Overton Park (2009) - New Lucero! - Ben Nichol's led band's first album on a major label - The level of polish has jumped significantly and it doesn't seem to fit with them - They have always seemed like the quintessential bar band, they hoarser and rougher their sound the better. - With that said, the polish can't disrupt the band's ability to write quality music. Official Site : Myspace : Buy on Amazon : Stream on HypeMachine Tigercity - Fake Gold - Ancient Lover (2009) - forthcoming full-length debut. - Big catchy pop/glam rock sound. Other tracks lean even more to the pop side. - the vocals are very reminescent of Trent Reznor MySpace : Buy on Amazon : Stream on HypeMachine Julian Casablancas – 11th Dimension – Phrazes for the Young (2009) - solo debut from former Strokes frontman. - Very dance and beat driven track. Official Site : MySpace : Buy on Amazon : Stream on HypeMachine
