The Roadside Graves - Jenny Jump - If Shacking Up Is All You Want To Do (2010)
- 3rd album out Feb 23rd
- Very well received album.
- Remind me a good deal of Lucero and their bar room style of rock/southern rock.

Frightened Rabbit - Things - The Winter of Mixed Drinks (2010)
- forthcoming 4th album, Midnight Organ Fight is their best to date.
- This band had a lot of hype from the start, and that combined with a ‘far from album best’ first single pushed me away at first, but the deeper I dug into this album the more I was blown away
- Scottish accent stands out, but there seems to be something more than that to his vocals and make them truly unique.

Dark Mean – Music Box - Music Box EP (2010)
- Debut EP. Download it from their official site now!
- Initially sounds like it’s going to be a bit of a rocker, but mellows into slower tune you might find on an AC Newman or Stephen Malkmus record.

Midlake - The Horn - The Courage of Others (2010)
- 3rd album
- Almost sounds like Serj of System of a Down when he’s singing and not freaking out.

Shearwater – Corridors - Golden Archipelago (2010)
- 6th album. Out Feb. 23rd
- they pack so much intensity in their songs. No one sounds quite like them.
- Austin band with ties to Okkervil River
- Almost a voice you’d expect at the opera
- Palo Santo is a great album by them.
- This is the most frantic track I’ve ever heard by them.
- Almost sounds like the band Wilderness here which would normally sound like a ridiculous comparison. Hooray for the evolution and open mindedness of musicians.

Joanna Newsom - Good Intentions Paving Company - Have One On Me (2010)
- 3rd album. 3 disc.
- She broke out in a big way with her 2006 2nd album Ys.
- This is the most mainstream of a progression I've heard from her. It's almost like a late 60's folk rock ballad.
- Ys was very operatic in style.
- Unique beautiful voice.
